Long time no see! Don't worry, we've been busy in our development cave working hard on a new product.

After all this time, we are pleased to announce the release of the MappyDot Plus, a smarter micro LiDAR sensor!

MappyDotPlus

The MappyDot Plus offers a faster measurement rate (up to 100Hz), better ambient light immunity, longer ranging (up to 4m) and an adjustable field of view. It's available for sale now on the store.

Now that we've got that off our chest, a little housekeeping. Firstly, we've dropped the prices of the MappyDot and offered more quantity discounts on the store. We also have a couple of new breakout boards. The first is a simple mounting board, which lets you easily strap things onto your robotics projects. The second is an mBot LiDAR hat kit, which is a great tool for STEM and DIY applications:

There's also some new firmware updates for the MappyDot, with another stable release just around the corner. We have a step by step firmware guide coming soon as well.

We are working on a fun project for the 2018 Hackaday Prize. It's a 4 stringed, Bluetooth MIDI, LiDAR air guitar called the Litar:

We are keeping a log of the build progress which uses some neat techniques that you might find handy in your own projects, so definitely check it out.

That's all for now, till next time!
